This is an amazing website that was created by photographers for photographers. The two brothers who created THE IMAGE STORY website, Chris and Todd Owyoung, have found a way for people to view large photographs in a responsive platform (across many devices) and also be able to read the story behind the photograph. It's fast (loading), very easy to navigate, beautifully designed, and seems to be one of the best photography websites out there. Check it out. You won't be sorry!
The Image Story Website Link
Here is the index page. Great simple nav bar on the left, and the rest is filled with "thumbnails" of the featured photos. As you hover, the photo is covered with a translucent yellow box with the title of the photograph. Click and you have a full-screen super high quality photograph (see second image below). Scroll down and you get the whole story (see third image)
.
You could spend a lot of time browsing around on this site if you enjoy looking at good photography. Being able to read about the photographs will definitely appeal to some people, maybe not all, but it's one feature that makes this such a great site in terms of content.
I give this one an A+!

NEED NEW DIGS? One Ocean Drive Realty has the place for you!
This realty company website won an American Web Design Award, and it's a pretty alluring site. The focus is on the photos, and they are some beautiful photos! I've never dealt with a realty company, and I'm sure these are high high high high high end properties in Florida that I will never step into in this life, but it is really fun to look. Actually I would never want to live in such luxury in reality—not my style—but I enjoyed looking through the website. Check it out: One Ocean Drive Realty
Overall, I like the focus on photos a lot. I like that the rest of the site is black, white, gray, with a little blue and aqua. Clean typography (although I wouldn't use the italics that they use on some pages) and very easy navigation. Simple and clear. The logo could be improved, but it's not terrible.
If I win the lottery (which won't happen since I don't actually play), I would first use a lot of the money to help people and animals in need, then buy all the best musical gear and guitars as well as all the best graphic design toys... stuff like that. I'd get a massage every week or more, hire a personal cook and personal trainer, treat my friends and family like royalty, rescue a bunch of animals, and then I might consider looking into a slightly luxurious home. Well, nah.... but it's fun to dream. :)

THE GARDEN WEBSITE—A BRAZILIAN COMPANY THAT DESIGNS WEBSITES
I found this website on a website called "40 fresh websites" and I don't remember how I got there. Anyway, it's a pretty amazing site. It's called The Garden, and it's a company that designs websites (based out of Brazil). It's beautiful and fun to navigate. Very simple, but really good. You just have to go experience it! And, it can lead you to other cool websites that this company has designed.
I like how easy it is to navigate, its responsiveness, the color scheme, and the artwork and movement of lines and designs as you scroll. It's very inviting; the landing page is gorgeous. The typography is beautiful. It's a great website for a company that designs websites because it's such a great example of what they can do. Don't just look at these photos, go to the site: The Garden.

The DIELINE AWARDS Website—The Latest and Greatest in Packaging Design!
The Dieline website was suggested for students to use when researching for the packaging design project in GDS120 (Graphic Design I). Ever since then, I've had it bookmarked and visit it occasionally for inspiration. I am intrigued and inspired by good packaging design! I'm inspired by good website design as well, and the Dieline's website is exceptional. What I'm posting here, however, is the Dieline AWARDS site, which is amazing. Here is the link: thedielineawards.com.
The colors are striking, the layout is beautiful, and the navigation is especially wonderful! The series of screenshots I've posted here sort of show what happens when you scroll down starting from the landing page. It doesn't do it justice. Visit the site.
Of course, the designs featured on the awards site are going to be exemplary, which adds to the richness and high quality of the website. It's really fun to peruse. It's also really easy to navigate, so the developers/designers did a phenomenal job all around.
